After reading these reviews I felt compelled to say that she is a great psychiatrist. She is a master at the art of reverse psychology. She uses it to help you realize you have control over your situation and only you can change your situation. I think she really tries to test people at the beginning to see if you really want to change. I learned so many things with her in therapy and she appeared to care a lot about her work (i.e her patients). If she was late she would call me to advise me. The only one thing I have to say is that she sometimes appeared to react in a way that would suggest she had been "burned" by patients before. Sometimes her reactions seemed uncalled for. But this should not be a deterrent to anyone who would like to consult with her. She helped me immensely. You know you saw a good therapist when years later you can still hear her reasoning in your head when you are uncertain of things. If you respect her she will respect you.

I had a similar bad experience that the other commentators described. I only saw her once and although I arrived 10 minutes before our appointment, she received me about 10 minutes after the start of the appointment. She was very impatient and told me that she had to rush things because according to her I WAS LATE!??!

Dr. Ritchie is dreadfully unhelpful and has actually made my condition worse with each appointment that I have had with her. I highly recommend seeing someone else for your problems. I find her to be slightly mean, insensitive, accusatory, evasive, and worst of all entirely uninformative. I have received no help from her whatsoever. (I have received the opposite of help). It is a sorry state of affairs when someone with psychological problems goes to see a psychiatrist and leaves her office in worse shape than before (and without receiving any help). I am slightly appalled at the degree of insensitivity with which Dr. Ritchie communicates. For someone in the business of dealing with fragile people, I find her to be quite off-putting in her manners of expression and choices of words. She strikes me as authoritative, mean, and without tact or 'people skills'. While I accept that psychiatrists must maintain distance from their patients, I believe that in the case of Dr. Richie this distance in grounded in a coldness beyond what is necessary. Worst of all, I simply find her to be utterly unhelpful. She pretty much had nothing to offer in the way of helpful information and would not even entertain my problems. For me, it is too psychologically draining to see this insensitive and unhelpful person anymore. I wish people better luck in finding someone who can actually help them with their issues.

She is a brilliant Doctor; there is no other way to describe her. The word smart simply do not justify her capacity, hence the brilliant is the word. Her level of understanding of any given matter is consistently astounding. The greatness of her caring and kindness simply is endless. She is a true doctor, a professional, best in her profession!

Now i have nightmares of her and wished i never went to see her in the first place,!!! I dont think i can earn her trust. Find another doctor right away!
