Mara Jane Rogers
September 25, 2016 Mara Jane Rogers I highly recommend Doctor Kelly Louise Driver, who works three different jobs here in Victoria, BC. She works as a psychiatrist at the Royal Jubilee Hospital, Patient Care Centre, works the floor on 2 Northwest, and also works for ACT. She is a wizzard of a shrink to say the very least! Doctor Driver kindly took me on as a patient after my favourite shrink of all times, Doctor Nagendra Muniswampappa SAMPATH had to leave town to further his studies in England. After several years of visiting shrinks, trying different concoctions of psychiatric drugs, injections, and so on, I now feel like a "career" psychiatric patient. Perhaps they are using me as a "guinea pig" experiment to try to prove their "theory" that Bipolar Disorder I is definetly what they call a "chemical imbalance" in the brain - particularly the flooding of dopamine during the so-called "manic" attacks. Anyway, I have found Doctor Driver a delight to have both as an "inpatient" at the Royal Jubilee Hospital, Patient Care Centre, here in Victoria, BC and as an "outpatient" at the Mental Health Centre on Trent Street. She is an excellent psychiatrist, very caring, compassionate, and down to earth. There is not a trace of arrogance about her. Most of the shrinks that I have seen here are so self-important that there is no way to relate to them. Doctor Driver manages to relate to you as if she is visiting with you, and not just another drug pusher. She is so unlike the typical drug-pushing, get the patients on a drug or five different drugs, OK, good-bye, see you next month to fill your prescription. Although she is on about a 20 minute or so schedule, she covers a lot in your session. She has a great sense of humour and shares her totally positive thoughts with you regarding your drug(s) and allows a little input from you also. She has so much character that she would have made a great actress. All the psychiat nurses on 2 North West just love working around her cheerful spirit. When I told her that I felt like a "banana" slug, she whipped out her smart phone, showing me a picture of a giant slug the size of a human man. Then, she said, "Now that's not real!" I was feeling so depressed at that time that is exactly how I felt. I was very blessed by the Great Spirit to get Doctor Driver, because she is one of the top-knotch doctors working at the Royal Jubilee Hospital. I have been seeing her now for almost two years, and she is doing backstands trying to help me. I received the best psychiatric care available on Vancouver Island, because of Doctor Driver's willingness to take on a Bipolar I Disorder client. She specializes in schizophrenia. Thank you so very much Doctor Driver!! I am forever greatful to be under your guidance and direction. It is extremely hard to gain trust in a shrink. I trust Doctor Driver 100 percent!!! I feel honoured to have you as my shrink Doctor Driver! MJR

Mara Rogers
March 25, 2018 Mara Jane Rogers Diagnosis: Bipolar I disorder. I have been very fortunate to be under Dr. Kelly Driver's exceptional psychiatric care & guidance for about three & one half years now. I can highly recommend her as a top notch psychiatrist. She is a very nice, kind, warm, caring, soft-spoken, compassionate, thoughtful, intuitive, & empathetic person & an excellent psychiatrist. She also has a great sense of humour. Dr. Driver is a very good listener too. Well, at least I think she's listening :} Although I gave Dr. a really difficult time at first, she has never given up on me. She has convinced me that I truly do have Bipolar I disorder after witnessing an acute manic episode when I stopped taking a very potent brain-disabling antipsychotic drug that another psychiatrist before her had prescribed. I felt so terribly lethargic & where life was just one big drag. That was a huge mistake going off that drug far too quickly, because the hypomania switched to acute mania, which is similar to being on speed. Then, Dr. Driver patiently saw me through a very long depressive period where I felt like a big lethargic banana slug. Then, next came another terribly long hypomanic period that just wouldn't end - even with several brain-disabling drugs or sedatives. Thanks to all Dr. Driver's expert care & ongoing support, I have been experiencing the best mental health possible. I am very grateful to have had Dr. Driver for my psychiatrist while in the hospital three times, & now as an ongoing outpatient. Bipolar disorder is very difficult to live with for us, & extremely hard for a shrink to have to deal with during all the different episodes. Dr. Driver is very knowledgeable about psychotropic drugs. Even though it's all trial & error, a psychiatrist has to be really skilled & very careful, because too many different drug cocktails can become highly toxic & even kill patients by inducing heart attacks. I trust Dr. Driver's drug prescribing 100%. Although as Dr. Joanna Moncrieff, UK psychiatrist & author states, "No drug has proven to stabilize or normalize moods. All drugs prescribed are sedatives," unfortunately that's all that conventional shrinks are trained to do. Dr. Driver does use some holistic methods/supplements also, so I no longer need to take powerful addictive sleeping pills for the bipolar insomnia. She also keeps reminding me that a healthy diet & exercise are very important also. I have always had a healthy diet - except for Hagen Daz ice cream :) So in other words, we cannot expect a few drugs to do all the work. Unfortunately, I've experienced a few quacks along my mental health journey, & one had me so drugged that all the professionals thought I had dementia. That was back in 2913 where it was the five brain-disabling drugs he was prescribing for an incorrect diagnosis - schizoaffective disorder. Dr. Kelly Driver has the right diagnosis of Bipolar I disorder. It's nice to know that I have a wonderful shrink that I trust 100%. With the ongoing support from Dr. Driver, & her expert psychiatric care, life is good once again. Dr. Driver always gives from her heart. She is a beautiful woman both inside & out. I will always be grateful for all her help where she skillfully managed to find a few low doses of drugs that aren't too sedating during the day. I will always be grateful for all Dr. Kelly Drivers' help & mental health support. Her nursing staff is wonderful also.
