Dr Klein performed a colon resection on me 4 days ago due to a Cancerous tumour. I was discharged from Humber River 2 days post operation as everything was looking good. I must say that I received nothing but the best of care from Dr Klein and all at Humber River who took care of me. Yes, still early days, but so far very good indeed.

My husband had a gastric bypass with Dr Klein years ago. A few days after being discharged from the hospital he had to be rushed back with unbearable pain in the abdominal area. He had an emergency surgery because a massive infection. After the surgery I had to chase Dr Klein for him to tell me what went wrong...did he? Of course not and never will! He will never admit that his performance was horrible. The hospital, Humber River, was a nightmare...filthy dirty, with faeces and urine on the floor of the bathroom from a previous patient (I have pictures to prove) and the staff was absolutely rude, lazy, dirty and not prepared at all to tend to sick people. Once a nurse was giving my husband heart medication when he doesn't have a heart condition. She "guessed" the name of the medication prescribed. After a long time in that disgusting we went back home...and then...another infection!!!! And then pneumonia!!!! And then he had to had another surgery because he had an infection around his lungs! Luckily the lung surgeon was amazing. After going to Dr. Klein for a follow up I told him that my husband was eating like a "normal" person...meaning...as if he never had a gastric bypass and Dr Klein said that everything was ok, that my husband lost a lot of weight. Oh yeah...of course he did...he was extremely sick for 10 months!!!!! Then I told him that I had my gastric bypass in 1999 and until today I still eat a little. He looked at me and had the courage to say that my surgery was really bad performed (I had a gastroscopy with him once). I asked our family Dr to refer my husband to another surgeon but he said that he has to go back to Klein, that no other surgeon will look into my husbands case. How can this be? So, you have to go back to the same rude, horrible Dr that almost killed you??????? I just heard today something that applies to Dr. Klein bad attitude.Do you know the difference between God and a doctor? God knows He is not a doctor!!!

This surgeon Dr. Lazar Victor Klein killed my love one, yet he still works. This can not be allowed.... אל תעשה לאחרים כפי שעשית להם , אלוהים לא יציל אותך עכשיו על החטאיםשבצעתם

PATIENTS BEWARE!!!! Dr. Klein does not give the after care that is required as he is far too busy operating. Perhaps the operating schedule suffers as well. My daughter bled out 12 hours after being released by him. He didn't even see her the day she was released. He performed open abdominal surgery to remove a tumour and perfomed a colon resection without the mandatory antibiotic prophylaxis. This was not an emergency operation. Actually my daughter received no antibiotics what so ever, pre, during or post for an infected incision and to treat the "many gram negative bacilli present". The College of Physicians and Surgeons in the second decison state that "Dr. Klein neglected to admininster antibiotic prophylaxis and that this was an oversight." No disciplinary action taken. I have had three College decisions which I appealed to HPARB. I am presently waiting for the third decision from HPARB. This past December 2012, a 27 year old girl also died at his hands --- bariatric surgery.

This is my experience, please do not generalize each of us may have different experiences. Dr Klein seems to be a great guy on the personal aspect (probably nice guy to have a beer with), but I found he did not spent the time to give proper directions on care; and the room at Humber Regional Hospital was a mess. He look very disorganized when he did an small surgery on me, the table where the surgical equipment was, looked like a mechanic's table (no offence to mechanics). The nurse failed to find the needle after he close the wound (a no no for any surgery - no matter how small). After all of that: It got infected, call and the Dr's office and he is on vacation (well deserved probably), you would assume they would re-direct me to someone else (negative).
