Breast cancer diagnosis missed

I had breast cancer and she didn't even know the physical symptoms. Run away as fast as you can as she is not knowledgeable. I had Dr. Americanness for over 10 years. For two years she let obvious symptoms slide that lead to a stage 4 breast cancer diagnosis. I had the growing tumor (almost 10 x10 cm when it was measured ) that changed my breast from a grape to a raisin, I had a nipple inverted, and two mammograms that were clear over an 8 month period and she did not follow the protocol to send me for an ultrasound for further investigation. When I finally went back to her the 4th time...she never initiated an appointment herself...to figure out what was happening with my breast, she sent me to the breast clinic . At my appointment the doctors at the breast clinic knew right away that it was cancer and were shocked that Dr. Americone sent for "plastic surgery'." When dr. Americone received the diagnosis that I had cancer, she said she was shocked that it was cancer and made excuses as to why I wasn't sent for an ultrasound. There has been no cancer in my family so I didn't have the knowledge I needed. My mistake was that I put my faith in dr. Americone, and I will have to live with that. Now I am a young mother of two battling a terminal diagnosis. I am writing this review because I don't want anyone else to suffer at the hands of a doctor that clearly not very knowledgable.

A. Boulianne

she is my family doctor and is good and reliable. I assume most people who rate doctors on this site do so because they have had problems with the doctor. It does not make for a reliable review.

Not Happy!!

She and her office staff are the most incompetent, rude, unhelpful, inconsiderate, group of people. I've never felt so small in my life. I was condemned for my current health condition and that I would never be off medication. However, my blood work would suggest otherwise. It took 6 months for a referral and when I called to inquire why, apparently I had to make an appointment to see her again. I told the office staff that I'm not making an appointment for something that was suppose to be done 6 months ago. She doesn't listen to you when you try and voice any concerns. Both her and her office staff both talk down to you. She has no regard for her patients what so ever. She has horrible and unpredictable office hours. Save yourself the hassle and go to another doctor.

A.C.

Very disappointed. Every time we tried to book an appointment, we got times during a day. When we asked for evening hours, always got an advise to come at "walk-in" hours. Tried that a couple of times, called in advance, and when we came we saw a closed door. Also, it's pretty hard to obtain the referral to a specialist. First of all it's hard to convince that you really need one - she always has her opinion and never listens. Second, you can never convince her that the situation is rather urgent and serious. Last time we got the referral, it was more than a year in the future. Thanks very much for that, but no, we are going to look for another family doctor.
