I was referred to Dr. McDermott by my family physician as a result of having had a seizure. I found him unusually helpful. He was very thorough, and he was remarkably open about explaining what he was doing and why. I also found him to be very personable, forthright and with a gentle sense of humour.

Dr. McDermott is extremely smart and knows his stuff really well. My husband had to see him, and he was able to tell what he had right away. He seems like a young Doctor, but is extremely intelligent, and really know what he is talking about, and doesn't hesitate in his knowledge and what he knows. We are really happy to have him as my husband neurologist, and would highly recommend him anyday

Concerned
Thanks for the heads up on John McDermott. My Doctor has arranged an appointment for me to see him. After reading your comments, I am really concerned. It would seem that McDermott is the only neurologist at the Allin Clinic. I cant select a rating for him yet, so Ill put my rating in the middle.

Further to my previous rating, I recently read his written report. There are several untrue statements made by Dr. McDermott riddled throughout. It reads like a work of fiction that would be quite laughable if it wasn't my own feelings and reputation that he was hurting. An example of this: Dr. McDermott hints that I exaggerate the severity my symptoms for attention from my mother. I found this statement to be particularly humorous, as I have been mostly physically estranged from my mother (my choice), for a COUPLE OF YEARS, for personal reasons. NICE TRY, though, Dr.McDermott. I suspect Dr.McDermott may have had some motive in writing this and the other lies about me in his report (I believe he was reprimanded for some of his conduct in his consultation wih me, during my hospital stay, and seemed quite unhappy that he had to apologize to me). Furthermore, I am considering legal action against Dr. McDermott for libel. As a doctor, I would think that professional credibility would be essential, however when that is not enough of a reason to be honest, maybe a pending lawsuit for libel will be a deterrent for Dr.McDermott.

I agree with Nicole's comments. During my brief examination with Dr. McDermott, he was extremely disrespectful of my condition that had been confirmed by several specialists. Interesting in comparison to Nicole's comments, in that he also said that he considered my condition psychiatric. I have never posted anything like this, but believe it necessary to do so now, given Dr. McDermott's attitude and behavior.
