Dr. Young was the anesthesiologist for two of my surgeries. I was so nervous and anxious about my surgery but he truly made the difference. He introduced himself, was very polite, soft spoken and truly listened to my concerns. He reassured me that he would be constantly monitoring my vital signs for any changes and respond accordingly if such should arise. He provided insight and education in a non rushed fashion regarding anesthetic awareness (which was a very big concern) and also regarding my claustrophobia. (He instructed the OR nurse not to place the oxygen mask directly on my face) That simple direction showed me he truly actively listened to my fears. He is a compassionate, caring and wonderful physician. As I have had past trauma related to breathing, that act of kindness and reassurance left a mark and gave me the courage I needed to go ahead with both surgeries. I was hoping he would be the anesthesiologist for my repeat surgery and when he walked through the OR door I was immediately comforted. He is a fine Dr and I will never forget the way he made me feel. Words cannot express my gratitude for this man.
