In my opinion... I feel if I were less intelligent I would have been taken advantage of, and put into a medication induced, zombie like state... after being interrupted repeatedly by Dr. Chawla's personal smartphone. I was repeatedly told "you are sick" and that I need medication... despite my excellent behavior my personal belongings and rights were held ransome, while less behaved patients were rewarded theirs after agreeing to medication. I believe to have watched many patients be successfully transferred from one crutch to another....

Started off 25 minutes late, tried to make a diagnosis after one 20 minute session, very big "pusher" of Seroquel, and angers easily if you resist medication (stating it basically was the only answer). Arrogant, uninformed, and a complete disregard for any feeling of compassion. I fell empathy for you if you have a loved one in her care.

I am utterly shocked at all the negativity in the reviews that I just read. I have received nothing but profound professionalism from this doctor, who I have been seeing for almost 2 and a half years. In fact, this doctor is very caring, knowledgeable , compassionate, attentive, understanding, humane, kind, gentle and sympathetic. She has taken every possible measure to ensure that my mental health is stabilized and has excelled at doing so. For the first year, I refused medication as an option, and she completely respected that, nor did she push any on me. It wasn't until I was ready and felt I would benefit from medication that I agreed and dedicated myself to medication. She is a professional on all levels of the word, and I do not know what state of mind I would be in without her professional care. She does not merit such negativity, and I am sorry that others that have commented to date can not validate her skill. I'm grateful to her for keeping me managed. I would not want to be in the care of any other psychiatrist but Dr. Chawla.

Dangerous and negligent. Does not listen to supportive and informed family or her own staff. Discharges people worse then when they are admitted. Discharges people with incomplete medication scripts. Should not have a license at all

Wow! I was shocked to read so many reviews so similar to my experience with this doctor. By the time she unexpectedly discharged me with no referrals or recommendations for future care, I was taking 9 medications at the same time. The day she told me she would no longer see me, she also told me I had a personality disorder, I would never get better and no one would ever be able to help me. She told me not to even bother trying to see another Psychiatrist in Orillia or she would tell them I was a difficult, non-compliant patient. I was shocked to hear her say this as I had taken every medication she had every tried to give me and up until that appointment I liked her and thought we got along just fine. I went into her office feeling okay that day and left her office feeling very suicidal and having to stay with relatives to keep myself safe. Since then I have found a new doctor who has confirmed I suffer from nothing other than Major Depression which is managed very effectively with just two medications. I'm so sorry to hear this doctor has mistreated so many people.
