Please Note: Dr Ragonetti recently prescribed antipsychotic drugs to my father who also has dementia. Both the American Drug and Food Association and Health Canada have issued regulatory warnings about this. In addition Dr Ragonetti prescribed this medication and it was administered without first obtaining valid substitute decision-maker consent. The result was that my father was nearly unresponsive. It was left up to the family to ensure that we were not in favour with this. Ontario has a comprehensive legislation, namely the Health Care Consent Act 1996 and Substitute Decions Act, 1992,which require health practitioners to obtain informed consent to treatment. BE AWARE you need to clarify your wishes immediately with Ragonetti related to his use of antipsychotic drugs (particularly if you are a decision maker for someone who has dementia).
