I am sorry to hear of the loss of Dr. Ronald Sternberg. I have just completed some research as I understand I may have purchased an older 1986 Porsche 944 that he once owned as the original owner. I am hoping to get in touch with someone from his family. I can be contacted at donrcmp@hotmail.com for additional communication. Thanks and again sorry to hear of this passing.

Dr. Ronald Sternberg was not only my family physician but someone I could have almost referred to as 'friend'. In the early '90s we first met —informally— at the pleasure skating and ice hockey rink at Ramsden Park in Toronto. Ron had such a keen desire —after having hung up his stethoscope for the day at his nearby family practice — to just be one of the guys and play a game or two of shinny hockey, where he was known as, 'Doc'. I can vividly recall asking him once, when he was leaving the ice, and the skating rink was closing for the night, "Why does everyone call you Doc?", to which he casually responded, "I'm a family physician." Ever since that first brief meeting, and whenever the opportunity would present itself, I would find myself talking to Ron at the Ramsden Park hockey rink —and, when doing so, would soon come to realize what a kind and friendly person he was. Well, and some years later during early 2000s, and when I found myself in need of a new family doctor, I remembered Ron from my past years at Ramsden Park and that he worked out of the Rosedale Medical Clinic. With his medical practice already filled up with more than enough patients, he quickly told his receptionist to make room for me. Such, was Ron. For such was his kindness and sensitivity toward others. It was during my beginning days of our doctor/patient relationship, that he also insisted I refer to him as 'Ron', and not Dr. Sternberg. And, it was always during an appointment, and while in his office, he would uncharacteristically make time for personal and friend-like conversations. It was during such visits to his medical practice how I soon became aware of what a truly special person Ron was —someone who always listened and always cared. One day, and when calling into Ron's office to arrange an appointment for the following week, his receptionist, Pearl, informed me he had retired. It wasn't until seeing a new dentist, Dr. Janice Goodman, in the same building where Ron worked out of, and around the year 2014, that she informed me he did not retire but had taken his life. You see, Dr. Goodman's husband was a close friend of Ron. She went on to state how it was Ron who helped her set up her dental practice in the same building where he practiced family medicine. When first hearing of this tragic news, and when walking west along Bloor Street towards Bay, following a dental appointment with Dr. Goodman, I found myself filled with great sadness, loss, and anger, as I could not grasp how such a kind, sensitive, and caring person such as Ron could take his life. For he was far too good of a person, and one of the least deserving, to experience such pain to an extent where he felt suicide was the only way out. Now 2017, the one-and-only positive I carry around with me since hearing of Ron taking his life, is how it gives me strength to carry on in my own day-to-day existence: an existence where, at times, I find myself having to struggle with sometimes intolerable levels of depression and anxiety. In closing, and when Ron took his life, the world lost a truly beautiful person!

I just thought of Dr. Sternberg because I am having some health issues, so I looked him up in Google out of curiosity. He was always, always able to help me with my then minor complaints back in the 1990's. He was thoughtful, and sensitive, and always knew the answer. He helped me with issues that perhaps another doctor might consider too small. I am so surprised at his early death and hope that his family is OK.
