I underwent a bladder procedure and got a severe bladder infection which was so bad that I was unable to go to the hospital to have it checked and took antibiotics which I had at home. After one week I felt much better and then phoned the office and spoke to a nurse/receptionist who took great umbrage at my saying I had received the infection after the routine bladder procedure. It seemed that I was being blamed for not coming in immediately even when I said that I was urinating every half hour and had a temperature of 83. I did come in after a second week on antibiotics and the nurse/receptionist triumphantly told me there was NO infection. I replied that I should hope not after two weeks on antibiotics and asked to have my antiobiotic prescription refunded. This was refused. The doctor in question did not show me the courtesy of a phone call and after I wrote him a letter he again did not answer. Both my husband and I are well educated people and my husband was a registered pharmacistc in Europe and a retired Dental Surgeon after 45 years practise in Canada. We are not children to be chastised and ignore. We now lack confidence in the hygiene conditions in this department as well as lacking confidence in the ability of this doctor and his staff to accept responsibility for these shortcomings without trying to blame the patient.
