More comprehensive review needs to be done consistently with patients regarding their medical history as well as onset of symptoms. Patients should have a clear understanding of their treatment plan, the duration and options. Likewise, patients should feel free to ask information and gain insight into their care. In turn, any follow up and collaborations with other medical professionals and facilities should be made clear to the patient. Finally although any person in any profession may have 30 years or more experience, the fact will always remain that each situation and person is unique and individual. Therefore regardless of years of experience, there are sometimes times a fresh look and perspective should be used to get to the root cause of a medical condition. In closing, there have been many advances in medicine that have proven that there are new conditions new genetic testing and new treatments. Patients would hope that this an option rather than just a simple check list and 15 minute appointment. Perhaps admittance of "I was wrong or I don't know" from a Physician will someday be less of a stigma of failure and hopefully become more of a tool to look deeper for answers. In closing comments from Dr. stating they have done ten thousand of whatever test is far less comforting to a patient than being told that the Dr. has many but right this second that the Dr. is only interested in 'your test" not about the fact that Dr. can do stiches with one arm behind their back. In essence patients come for an appointment thinking it's about them, not about the Dr., or about the Dr. getting a star on their jacket.
