I too had my procedure cancelled only 4 hours after having it confirmed. Apparently the nurses had decided that there would be no procedures on that day.....two day in the future. I will go elsewhere.

I had a colonoscopy and was pleased with the procedure. It was on time and prepared efficiently. The sedation was right on. I did not feel a thing. I woke up towards the end of the procedure and was able to watch the last few minutes on the big screen. I have no complaints about the clinic or it's staff. Am surprised about the negative reviews, maybe things improved..

I was sent to the Provis Rudd clinic for my 3 year follow-up screening in October 2017 (3 months ago) after my first colonoscopy where 6 polyps were removed. As in other reviews I too was probed before the sedative had taken effect. I was wheeled into the procedure room fully awake as his staff had not sedated me yet and an annoyed and impatient Dr.Champion let the staff know about it and then assaulted my colon with the probe going in. Thankfully a minute later I was unconscious. I was the last patient of the day and he seemed in a hurry. After the procedure I was informed that 2 small polyps were removed and that he was "pretty sure" he got all of the second one. Told me he wanted to see me in a year. Definitely not words of comfort to any patient. A month later I still had not heard from my GP about any pathology on the two polyps as the clinic still hadn't contacted my GP's office. After I called the clinic and raised the issue, a few days later I learned that the two polyps were not retained therefore no pathology was done. With a family history of colon cancer and my lack of confidence with this clinic and doctor especially after reading others experiences here I had my doctor arrange an appointment with the OGI clinic at Elmvale Acres. The colorectal specialist there is the best in Ottawa. This colonoscopy to double check Dr. Champion's work of just 3 months prior, resulted in my having 13 small polyps removed! The OGI specialist said he could see where 2 large polyps were removed previously. So Dr.Champion not only misinformed me about the polyp size but in his haste somehow missed or deliberately chose to not remove 13 polyps and no pathology done on the two he removed. I would strongly recommend that his services and this clinic be avoided at all cost. Had I not insisted to be checked again I would have spent a year with 13 polyps growing in my colon and potentially having cancer form. From my experience and others here, I am appalled that this doctor is allowed to practice and feel the need to warn others.

My experience today was horrible. It was an endoscopy. I gagged awfully the whole time and felt everything the entire procedure. I threw up on myself. IV pic to a visibly tiny vein in the back of my hand failed and hurt much worse than the one subsequently inserted in my elbow pit. One of the nurses was visibly gruff and unfriendly. For a procedure like this, patient comfort should be first priority. At this clinic, it is clearly last priority. The receptionist mentioned i would get a numbing spray in the back of my throat. The pleasant nurse mentioned the same. I did not get it. I was asked to swallow gel off the end of a popsicle stick at the top of my mouth, and the nurse smudged it on the bottom, right in my throat where i gagged multiple times as it was being swiped. Then they inserted a plastic thing in my mouth and my mom was asked to leave the room. I felt everything. I was a bit groggy from the iv drugs, but imagine being sleepy but having a tube pushed into your throat and wiggled around, continuing to push through with full sensation. I was groggy and scared and constantly gagging. I ended up with vomit all over my shoulder. Though the procedure was short, these people were unconcerned with my trauma, my fear, my struggle. To make matters worse, the recovery nurse argued with myself and my mom, insisting i had received the throat spray and that ‘everyone reacts differently to their sedatives’. That has nothing to do with not having been provided with effective numbing medication. When my mom and i asserted we were both fully aware of only the gel being pushed into the back of my throat, no spray, she argued that the paper confirmed i received the spray and that sometimes their sedatives can cause ‘memory loss’, that I had probably forgotten (????). No, i was coherent the whole time. She went back to check with the doctor and returned a different story: that they now have ‘new management’ and now they administer only gel, not spray. (But the sheet said i received spray?? To receive OHIP money falsely at my expense?). Why on earth would we be arguing after what I just went through?? Another lady beside us was complaining to this same nurse of how traumatic her colonoscopy had just been. She was told that if she wanted ‘deep sedative’ that she should have asked if there would be an anaesthesiologist in that day (????). Why would anyone think to ask that?? No one should use this clinic under the current ‘management’. It was a nightmare for me, what I feel was literally abusive treatment.

PAUL BRISSON

Attended clinic at 2 Gurdwara Rd, Nepean. Jan 11, 2020 Never have I seen such an amazing facility and I have seen a multitude of them including hospitals. From the entrance (registration desk) and meeting the Mgr. (Gus) to the nurses and then meeting Dr. Brar , the Surgeon. My wife was the one requiring both the Colonoscopy and Endoscopy. Every detail of the process was thoroughly explained both before and after. No time was wasted. The cleanliness of the facility including the floors, beds(nice clean pressed sheets is spotless and delightful. We wish to thank Dr. Brar and his staff for the professionalism and kindness displayed.. My wife is very appreciative of the service. (no pain, bleeding). The negative reviews on this facility etc. must have been made by opposing clinics who are unable to provide the same service. I cannot imagine a patient doing so. Seeing is believing. THANK YOU.
