Did not smile at all the entire session. As an ECE, and a kindergarten teacher, her comments about child behaviour went directly against what I have been taught, and what I have seen in 18 years of working with children. My 3 year old was shy and hiding her face. The doctor literally tossed a small bin of uninteresting cheap cars on the floor (my daughter does not particularly like cars). The doctor kept saying this behaviour is not age appropriate, that she should be playing with the toys, and that I would have to work on separation anxiety. She told me that she should have been getting intervention a long time ago. I told her repeatedly that my child is never clingy, she was just shy with the doctor. Dr. Sheinin wrote down a list of books about autism and gave me phone numbers. She just read me a list of what my child should be accomplishing at that age (I have read these checklists on-line many times, that is why I asked for an appointment). My major question was what should I teach my daughter to do when she gets angry so that she doesn't scream or throw things. The doctor did not answer that one direct question. She just said to read the list of books, and her blog. At the end of the session my daughter finally looked up, went through my bag and said "mommy's sunglasses" smiled, and laughed while looking at me. Then the doctor completely changed her viewpoint and said that it didn't look like autism at all and scratched out the phone numbers that she had written down....after my child just saying two words? I had described her abilities in detail but the doctor clearly only believes what she sees herself. Although she asked me questions throughout the appointment she did not seem to be listening to what I was saying at all. She also told me to take away my daughter's nap time because that is wasted time that she could be working on communication skills. She needs to be kept awake for 12 straight hours to work on communication when she gets tired in the afternoon and will start crying without her nap? She gave several pieces of ridiculous advice, she has no bedside manner, made me feel judged as a parent, and does not seem to understand people at all.

She is rude, unprofessional and extremely inconsiderate. She offers too much of her opinion and her advice is harmful. It was difficult for me to justify even paying her after the session we had.

Lisa Basya Judith is transphobic, rude and asks children sexual questions even after being told to stop. If you want to go to a psychiatrist do not go to her.

Went to her for six months and it was both a waste of time & money. The first red flag should have been that at the end of the first session, she said that most people do not come back after the first session (I wonder why?). However, because we just wanted the best treatment possible and trusted our family physician who referred us to her, we continued to go until we realized she was doing nothing but damage to a transgender kid who was already under enough mental stress at the time. (He would cry after every session and had severe anxiety about the sessions) Also asked sexual questions to a thirteen year old trans man (that are too explicit to state here) many times in front of his parents. Brought sexual topics up in sessions repeatedly. Instead of trying to reason with him about his trans identity in a polite way while validating it, she proceeded to invalidate it, call it a social contagion, blame it on traumas (without even asking about the child's childhood?), and created a very unfriendly environment where he was disparaged and humiliated repeatedly. In the end, chalked up every issue being experienced to the use of technology while holding her parenting methods over your head. I do not know what kind of an image she is projecting to other physicians for her to have been recommended to us, but it seems as if she has been rather duplicitous with her means of communication and professionalism with these individuals. All of the reviews wrote here about her are true. Incredibly unprofessional, rude, condescending, and will at best, do nothing but at worst, cause even more damage. We are with a different professional in the field now and are much happier.
