Since the passing of Dr. Yoneda I have been a patient at the Kamloops Downtown Health Centre on Landsdowne. I have a nurse practitioner, Colleen Regier. The service I receive is exceptional. She is professional, personal and incredibly connected to my needs. She does not hesitate to make recommendations that are helpful and meaningful. As a Centre I appreciate the "one stop shopping" concept. I have never understood why patients have to go to so many different places to get services. I would like it to be a bit more comprehensive with alternative choices available also. I was very saddened when they removed Hety as the counsellor for Mental Health from the centre. I am not sure of the reason, but now that I have to go to another place it becomes another stress in my life. The staff recognizes the clients and this makes me feel like I am part of the community which is important. A sense of belonging and connections is important to a client as the reasons for coming may be very stressful in itself. The only critical comment I would like to make is that the centre become more expansive.
