I just called this department to find out an approximate time when my MRI would be scheduled. I was met with a rather abrupt response from the lady answering (as if, why are you wasting my time?!). I have already been painfully waiting for six weeks which I realize is about a normal wait time in reference to previous MRI's that I've had. However when I inquired as to whether it might be another month or so, her response was that it would be many, many months even into the new year. The MRI request from my Neurosurgeon was sent on Sept. 8th, 2014 which would be a five plus month wait time! I find this totally unacceptable and challenge those in charge to justify to me and all the others still waiting why such long wait times are NOT being addressed with additional equipment and staffing? Your system is BROKEN, FIX IT! No wonder that 80% of people with symptomatic health related problems become WORSE. They can't even be properly diagnosed in a timely manner! The Medical Services Pan of BC and Administration of KGH should be ashamed of such dismal and inadequate public health care. If you too are on this overloaded MRI wait list, I urge you to contact our Minister of Health the Honorable Terry Lake and voice your concerns as I will be doing.
