At the clinic, the staff are extremely helpful and friendly. Getting a hold of them when not at the clinic, however, is next to impossible. I have been waiting for test results that should have taken a few days for a month! No one answers the phone, the clinic seems to always be closed on random weekdays, there is no answering machine and no way to contact them by email. Extremely frustrating.

very good new clinic. One drawback is that when my doctor went on mat leave the other doctors didn't pick up her patients so we were left in a lurch. They didn't offer any alternatives. They do like to push their 'administration' fees, but that doesn't seem unusual for new medical clinics.

Great physicians. VERY difficult to get through the main lines to get an appointment. Often no response and just told to call another time.

We moved here from Ontario and started with Dr Rubin at Cardiogenix General Medicine, who is a very personable and attentive doctor, but by her third mat leave without an alternate assigned to look after us in the clinic we needed to change. During these void periods, we had resorted to asking our former Ontario doctor for prescription refills and travelling back for general consults; fortunately, we had been referred to Montreal specialists for acute conditions who we continued to see. But our Ontario doctor retired, so we have signed up with the Cardiogenix Premium Division, private medical - pay as you go, but it cuts the waiting time AND the aggravation. At least they answer the phone, and don't leave you on hold for too long, and they do call to remind you about appointments. Visits are pretty focussed, 30 minutes, so bring all your information and questions written out beforehand. You still have to chase lab reports and requisitions being faxed back and forth (always get a copy sent to your home address by the lab). Oh, and Dr Sandhurst, was the first doctor assigned to us - experienced and thoughtful and throrough, but she has now left on mat leave! to be continued.

I was a patient at Cardiogenix since May 2012. I had received good service until I got a kidney stone in February 2017. The pain started on Sunday, February 19. I was in extreme pain for 5 days, all day all night. Needly to say, I hardly slept for 5 days. I called the clinic and got an appointment for Friday, February 24 at 4:00 PM. The pain was so bad coupled with nausea and vomiting that I went to the emergency at St. Mary's early Friday morning. I had a CT scan at 2:00 PM and the result showed that I have a kidney stone. I told the emergency doctor that I was a patient at Cardiogenix and he told me that I need to see a urologist. He did not refer me to a urologist but he knew that the urologist was part of Cardiogenix. After staying overnight, I was released with a prescription for morphine and instructed to make an appointment at Cardiogenix. I made an appointment for Tuesday, February 28 at 4:00 PM. My doctor explained everything to me and what will happen next and was sent home with another prescription for morphine. Dr. Matthews, the urologist, is only at Cardiogenix on Thursdays at the clinic downstairs. By the time I finished my appointment, the clinic was closed. The next day, I had a hard time getting through to the switchboard. When I finally reached someone, I said I need an appointment with Dr. Matthews. She told me that she needs the referral from my upstairs doctor before she could give me an appointment. So I called upstairs and left a message at the front desk for my doctor to send my referral to Dr. Matthews. I had to call many times upstairs and downstairs to find out what was happening with my referral. Upstairs tells me that it is getting processed. Downstairs tells me that they are waiting for the referral. Even though upstairs and downstairs are Cardiogenix, they are separate entities and they don't talk to each other. When I finally got an appointment with Dr. Matthews on Thursday, March 23, three Thursdays had passed, 23 days since my appointment with my doctor after my emergency visit. I find this service unacceptable, especially since I was paying $129 per month. No one should go through extreme pain for over 3 weeks in Canada. Yes, I was on morphine, but I was also nauseous and vomiting and the Gravol did not help. I had a chest xray at the hospital because I told them that I was short of breathe. A week or so after I left the hospital, the triage doctor called me and told me that he sees something in my xray and for me to go to the hospital and pick up the results and take it to my doctor. I asked the doctor if it was possible to fax it to my doctor. He said he could do that. I received a letter dated September 28, 2017 from Cardiogenix. By this time, I had found a free family doctor and requested that my file be sent to her. The letter states that they had received a note from the emergency doctor at St. Mary's. The note says that the xray showed a shadow on the right side and "a chest xray needs to be repeated again as soon as possible" in bold and underlined. I was to notify my family doctor to arrange a repeat chest xray. This is 7 months later. My doctor was not happy to see this letter when I showed it to her. I had the xray done the next day, which was normal. Another good reason to severe my ties with Cardiogenix. They only care about you if you pay them. Margaret Not a satisfied customer
