I walked into Dr Pugachev's office expecting Russian practicality. He immediately turned to me and said, "I have seen your kind before" and was hostile and aggressive as his front desk staff - at one point they asked me "you didn't ask the doctor?!" as the answer to my question. And we HAD met before - as a professional treeplanter I developed tendonitis and so had got a job at the Smitty's Pancake House in Jasper where me and Dr Pugachev as med student new from Russia worked as dish-washers. I was Top-course and Top-athlete of my Basic Military training with the Canadian Armed Forces and this 2 penny tin-pot wanted to discriminate against me based on his personal opinion of my appearance as a disabled person. Guess he only deals with healthy people - some doctors, eh?! "My kind" started hauling hay-bails at 10 years old. 565 000 trees planted in the mountains of BC. As a disabled person I am planning training for the Olympics - none of this is good enough to receive an unbiased approach to medical treatment. Looks like I suffer from fetal alcohol syndrome so most of my symptoms can be treated with diet.

I have been seeing Dr Pugachev for my medical concerns for many years now. At first I didn't like his abrupt attitude. I was not used to being able to only see the doctor for one thing and thought that was bot good because symptoms were often related. Now I realize that all doctors are doing that, one symptom per visit. Then I knew why he was trying to rush me out. So now my thoughts about him are that he is a good doctor, always professional, and is a good person that it takes time to know that.
