It is difficult to find a GP in this area so I have settled for Dr. Papo several years ago. My first negative experience with her was over a year ago when I was having my annual PAP smear. I had disrobed and Dr. Papo entered the exam room and conducted the entire exam without uttering a single word to me. I was too stunned to comment. This week I visited her asking her for a prescription that might help me for my condition. She had previously referred me to another GP in a town over an hour's drive away but after waiting for 2 months and hearing nothing from the doctor why she couldn't just make the prescription itself. I offered an article which described peer reviewed research which revealed the medication was beneficial for many patients with my condition. She did not look at the article and refused to explain why she would not make the prescription. She said I wouldn't understand. I asked again for an explanation since I suspect,, as a retired social worker who worked with many physicians regarding medications, I might understand. She raised her voice saying she didn't want to be bullied. She said the next thing she'd be asked to do was provide abortions and help people die. She told me that after appointments like this patients were given a month to find a new doctor. I asked was she 'firing' me? She stated again that after appointments like this patients were given a month to find a new doctor but never completed the sentence. This is a doctor who clearly will not be questioned and seems to think her patients are unable to understand medical concepts. Definitely not a doctor I can depend on.
