Dr Robert Blakely McKenzie was an awesome doctor. He educated his patients to be empowered in the health care choices. He supported healthy and empowering choices. He provided options to medication and he provided medication appropriately when needed. Dr. McKenzie offered relaxation techniques and therapy instead of prescription drugs in the early 1980s. I am so very thankful and grateful for having been blessed with the opportunity to have had Dr. McKenzie as my doctor. I traveled from Kitchener where I had moved back to Toronto to consult with Dr McKenzie when I had health care concerns because I had not been able to find another doctor in the Ontario Health Care system that practiced medicine with the care and purpose and ability that he did. The health care system would be a healthier place if there were more doctors like Dr. Robert Blakely McKenzie. He understood the Hippocratic Oath and honoured it. Sadly health care today is about the bottom line dollar, not about healing and health.
