I saw Dr. Regina Liu for many years. She’s a very qualified psychiatrist but I am basing this mainly on her educational background. She did her undergrad at University of Calgary, post-grad at U of T, and further training at Harvard. When I first started seeing her, she seemed very compassionate and insightful. As I saw her more and more, our sessions became shorter and shorter. I was being treated for anxiety disorders and depression. She diagnosed me with ‘chronic disorder’ and put me on several types of medication that cost $50/monthly to say the least. Luckily, I had a good drug plan. During the last few times I saw her, she basically discouraged me from seeing her. She wouldn’t tell me when I could book my next appointment. She also referred me to counselling and therapy with other professionals. Basically, whenever I went to see her it was just to check if I am taking any medication and then she would make her medication recommendations and prescription. She told me I was inconsistent with my appointments. I felt discouraged by her and her staff of receptionists. I ALWAYS waited at 30 minutes to an hour after appointment time just to be seen for less than 15 minutes. The main receptionist (black-haired, shorteast Asian) is incredibly rude and talks down to you. So I cancelled my appointment more often because of the wait times really got in the way of my other commitments. Plus, if you’re dealing with depression it makes you even feel more crappy when you are greeted by her rude receptionist. I am seeing a psychotherapist now instead of Dr. Regina Liu. Both my GP and psychotherapist diagnosed me of Social Anxiety Disorder and claims I am not depressed. I do not recommend Dr. Liu, especially for young people that are more impressionable. She just likes to put people on meds.

In my opinion, she is not a doctor at all. She doesn't know what it means mental illness nor have a knowledge to treat patient. She doesn't want anyone to ask her questions but simply take medication as she prescribe. As far as my understanding is concerned, she has no sympathy nor concern for patient under her care. I have complained many places about her even want to bring her to justice because of her racist approach towards me. at one time, she told me that i talk too much because i challenged her ability as doctor. Her license suppose to be revoked long time a go, but she is there because of enormous connections. if i were you i will run from this one-it is not worthy it.
