Dr. Fow, my doctor in Morro Bay has romdmceneed that I see you about recurrent tendonitis in the knees and unresolved shoulder pain. I'm 64, in good shape, and an active hiker, but I'm being slowed down by flare-ups. Ibuprofen at high doses stops the pain only temporarily. X-rays of one knee don't show damage from osteoarthritis. In surveying your site and office intake forms, I get the sense that your specialty is surgical intervention for injured workers and high-maintenance athletes. I am not ready for joint replacement. Rather I'd favor physical therapy and lifestyle tweaks, and possibly the platelet injections, though I am skeptical of their lasting benefit. Am I a patient for you?

FMLA does not offer paid time off, it just allows an emoplyee to have time off to take care of a sick family member. So he may be allowed time off to take care of you, but if he does not have some vacation or sick time to use it will not be paid time off.Since he hasn't been at the job for a long time, and since your surgery is elective don't you think it would be more prudent to have another family member who does not work help you out? Depending on the surgery, do you REALLY need help? Most people recovering from surgery recover just fine by laying on the sofa with the tv remote control. What do you expect your husband will have to do for you?
