Having just reviewed the medical and brief life history of the late William Raymond Keeler, M.D. (supposedly devoted practitioner of [child] psychiatry) I couldn't help but become no less than faintly amused by the eloquence of what I was reading in view of the way I was treated when, I, at the age of 11 or 12 years, was referred to the man during the mid to late 1960s. My mother had nowhere else to turn, being alone and completely without support, having a child with problems, being referred to this man, who, under the circumstances, was unknowingly foisted on him by another psychiatrist of international renown. In other words the psychiatrist who made the referral had no way of knowing that this man had a crusty edge to him harder and more crispy than a slab of granite with the skin sheared off, giving my mother nothing more than a damning and off-handed prognosis of her son. (To note but a single example of the treatment incurred by this child, the man whom this tribute is based on took a lighted cigarette on several occasions to a painted plastic model which the naive child had, during one appointment, brought in to show him to exhibit his own pre-adolescent talent. It didn't end there but the point is made.) The psychiatrist in question made it blatantly obvious that he cared more about the hand made antique and semi-antique furnishings in his office and waiting room than he did about the treatment of his patients - and the writer has at least one witness to prove it. Lastly, it is also interesting to note the caption or disclaimer which accompanies this rating service: Do not forget that you are legally responsible for your comments. Your IP address will be recorded. This is just the type of 'word of caution' that one would expect to see written in this man's Last Will And Testament.
