Who go to work everyday telling anxious people that they have cancers and that they may die because of it? My mind went blank when I first heard the word “cancer”. Dr. Leong was very compassionate and he gave me the time to get over the initial shock and then patiently explained all the facts related to my cancer in layman’s terms. He reassured me that effective treatments were available which he guided me through. I had a lumpectomy and sentinel node removal and the surgery turned out to be a lot better than I expected. My breast actually looked nearly normal after. My recovery was nothing to speak of. I didn’t even take one single pain pill. On the day of operation, I was very anxious. He saw me before and after the surgery. it was very reassuring that everyone in the hospital knew Dr. Leong and they all said good things about him.
