Disappointed Patient

I cannot generalize, because I do not know how he treats other patients, but THIS IS MY EXPERIENCE: During the past few years, I've had countless frustrating experiences with this doctor. Most times I felt that he wasn't even listening to my concerns. He refused referrals asked repeatedly (it's been nearly 2 years and I'm still waiting for one as my symptoms are getting worse and worse). He forgets that he prescribed medications that didn't work before, even the ones that caused more harm than good, and prescribes them again. When reminded that he already prescribed the meds in question, he denies that he did, even though proof is shown. My latest experience was one of the worst so far, as he got agitated when questioned. I've been having health concerns I am unable to discuss with him, because he's not listening. He cut my original dose of meds I received from a specialist I can no longer see, and when I asked to be reinstated on my original dose because I had been feeling sick due to the ubrupt cut, unable to cope, he refused. I asked to be seen by a specialist many many times. Still waiting. I asked to be reinstated on my original dose of medicine UNTIL he's able to set me up with a specialist, so at least till then I wouldn't suffer. He refused. He said he's not here to do what patients tell him to do. Even my repeated requests to get my medical and medicine history from my previous doctor BEFORE experimenting with new drugs on me was denied. He even cuts into my sentences talking over me while i try to explain my situation, and if I get assertive and point out his mistakes, reminding him that it is MY health and MY body that we're talking about, thus we need to make decisions TOGETHER, and come up with solutions that I, as a patient am also comfortable with, he gets agitated, fidgety and his face turns red. As a patient, all I want is to be heard, my concerns to be discussed, reasonable requests granted, and not pushed and bullied into treatments that in my opinion only a specialist should prescribe while the patient is monitored on a regular basis. I need to be comfortable in my doctor's office, not stressed out dreading every visit. My husband committed SUICIDE after a family doctor prescribed him brain chemical altering drugs to cope with a family tragedy, and those drugs ended up making him worse. My husband was dead at 35 before he could even see a specialist. It was clearly the wrong medicine for him, which a general practitioner should've never prescribed. I shared my concerns with this doctor, he knows what happened with my husband, and still pushing drugs on me that potentially could harm me, while cutting the ones that's proven to be helpful at least temporarily, for the time being. My concern is not that our opinions don't match, but that my concerns are not taken seriously, mistakes are not acknowledged, records of what had been said, discussed, prescribed are not thorough. There was at least two occasions, when i mentioned a nagging problem and his reaction was "this is the first i hear of it" while I keep complaining about the same thjngs over and over. For one of those problems he even prescribed a medicine, which i had to stop due to side effects. When I asked him if this was really the first time he heard about my problem, why do i have a prescription with his name on it FOR the problem? Again...he got agitated, face turned red and the wall went up. I could go on with listing every frustrating encounter, but I'm going to stop now. As a conclusion.... My years of conduct with this doctor was nothing but frustration, the stress of having to deal with him is actually making me sicker, and the only reason I haven't left him yet is because it is impossible to find a family doctor in this city accepting new patients. If you have a health concern, expect to be listened to and treated with care and the attention you deserve, I would not recommend this doctor.
