Brian Selby

I just came across Dr Wayne Cyr's business card from years ago... it reminded me of my office visit where he announced a 'class 4' cytology diagnosis... I didn't even know what that meant at the time... I wish the Dr. would have done a 'second urine test' before announcing that 'death sentence' to me ... it effectively took so much away from my young family... my wife and my commission business in the 'months' leading up to a 'correct' diagnosis. ...Years later, Dr Martin McLoughlin correctly diagnosed me with Interstitial Cystitis .... I'm pretty sure Dr. Cyr brushed this off as a minor oopsy ... but for me it was a shattering life changing experience involving many years of trying to recover from this misdiagnosis and enduring the pain of Cystitis without knowing what was causing it.

I believe Brian Selby is mistaken and I believe his statement proves it . First let me say I was a patient of dr Cyr for 30-40 years since age 10! He was abbotsford’s and abbotsford hospitals top urologist, he was an AWSOME doctor! When I name drop him to todays urologist they know him he is respected! You said he ordered a class 4 cytology for urology which means he found markers in your urine and possibly blood that match him needing to order that exact test! You say in a few months waiting for confirmation of positive or negative you stressed which caused your family to stress and you blame him for that, you should blame yourself diagnosis and CANADA wait times = 3 months sometimes more! Not his fault! Then I guess you decided to end it and go else wear then you say later intestinal cystitis, how do you know if your test was negative he wouldn’t have sent you to a gastroenterologist to be investigated! You didn’t give him a chance to finish, the close proximity of the 2 organs can cause overlap so I think you over reacted, Dr Cyr did his job up until you gave up on him making it impossible for him to finish He always was an outstanding urologist and it was an honor being his patient it’s sad he had a stroke and had to end his practice but his life was work nearly 24/7 so he was under constant stress to meet his patients need and always being on call for the hospital so he spent his free time vacation. In his homeland France! He was a wonderful son who is a school teacher and he never let you down he was always there when you needed him but I guess you were too impatient and over reactive to get the pleasure to really know him! ✌️
