I found Dr.Pusey very patient and thourough. She generally erred on the side of caution, which I appreciate. She also explained things to us in simple, easy to understand language, which is nice (especially coming from a Dr.!). The only complaint I have at all was the suggestion to start retracting my son's intact penis at 1 yr. corrected age. This is a no-no. Foreskin is fused to the glans at birth and will seperate itself, no help needed. We were told to "slowly start retracting it in the tub". This, however can still cause tearing, and damage both the foreskin and the penis. Now that I know more, I know that this information is inaccurate. What parent's need to be told is "When Intact, Don't Retract. Only Clean What Is Seen!" As a first-time parent, and the first in my family to leave my son as perfect as he was born, I trusted that their pediatrician would be up to date on this information. However that isn't the case in this instance. Thankfully my son has not suffered from this misinformation, but I hope that this is corrected immediately in order to protect every other little intact boy from the possible complications that can arise from premature retraction.
