Hamersley is the type of doctor who judges people without knowing who they are assuming by what they wear and look like at 4:00 in the morning when showing up in emergency at the Campbell River hospital. Apparently if you show up in a hoodie and yoga pants and do not have your hair done he assumes you are a druggie and rather than treat you with respect he sends notes to the specialist he has referred you to that he does not believe you - wow and where is treatment or diagnosis - absolutely non existant forcing patients to seek help at their GP - and many Dr visits to sort things out. I am wondering what the point is of going to emergency when the treatment is so poor. And the cost to the taxpayer - wow - what a waste? Thank God I have an excellent GP who will follow up and be sure I am looked after BUT I WILL NEVER GO TO THE CAMPBELL RIVER HOSPITAL AGAIN BECUASE OF DR. HAMERSLEY'S poor and judgemental treatment - I will drive to Comox even though we live in Campbell River live in Campbell River. He not a carding doctor at all.

We just recently moved to Canada after an absent of 18 yrs.due to work. I had open heart surgery in 2010 and during the interim of three months to wait for our medical insurance, I felt that I needed to check on a pain in my back, as I was instructed by my cardiologist. All the staff at Campbell River Emergency Dept.were outstanding. Dr. Seldom was my physician and through the morning he was courteous and efficient. Unfortunately the scan I needed was busy until the afternoon. I came back later and took the scan and Dr. Hamersley came to tell me that the results were ok. He probably looked at them for a few minutes before coming in and was with me for 5 minutes tops. I received a bill from Dr. Hamersley in the amount of $ 375.00. Dr. Seldom, whom did all the work charged $ 75.00. Sad.

July 1st 2024 around 11pm I went to emergency for stomach pain. Dr Hamersley said why are you coming in 11pm instead of seeing your doctor during the day. I said my doctors office was closed and now the pain has gotten worse. Do you not know that we are short staff and that we are really busy with patients that are really sick. He said in a raised voice We can’t do much for you except blood work as everyone has gone home for a MRI test or a CT scan and you will be waiting a long time to see a doctor. I said I’m not well and then said I’d like to at least have the blood work…he then asked me a few more questions, filled out a report, put a medical band on my wrist, gave me a urine sample bottle and said “get going”. I feltthat maybe we should have gone home at this point as I was thinking I was wasting critical care. As it turned out I had very low sodium and was diagnosed with pancreatitis. They kept me over night, put me on a saline drip and nausea and pain medication with a follow up at 7 am CT scan I’m 69 years old, I just didn’t need the level of stress that he created for me. He’s a very a cold/hearted un- professional doctor that needs to be dealt with. I hope I never have to deal with him again. Not a nice man at all!!!
