My daughter had an accident in 1976 ( scissors to the centre of her eye) when she was 5 and we had just moved to Elliot Lake where I taught school . She was rushed to Plummer Memorial hospital via ambulance in the middle of the night and Dr Stevenson was there at 4 am waiting for us. He could not have been nicer to me and assured me that this was NOT my fault. She was out on IV fluids ( with antibioitics ) and he did surgery that night at 10 pm. He had recently moved from Toronto Sick Childrens which was a real blessing as he had the latest techniques. She had 4 stitches to the centre of here eye .( 1/10th the thickness of a hair I remember !) Even though she just sees shapes and shadows ( she is 43 now ) she did not lose the eye ( nor the muscle) and the after care for the next year was wonderful. We think of Dr Stevenson often and hope that he is doing well..His name was mentioned today at a Peterborough opthomologists as she has a torn corea where the scar is ( from alacearion from doing renovations ). We would very much like to be in touch with Dr Stevenson to thank him for all he did for Ginny. He is the best opthomogist that she has ever had !
