Dr.Peter Nynkowski was my son's doctor during his last schizophrenic episode starting July 21/13. On Thursday Sept 7 my son was upset after a meeting the doctor, social worker, case worker during which 'the doctor' said he had done all he could for Jeff and Jeff would never get any better. Jeff left the meeting. Later that day, he was given a pass and he went AWOL. A friend saw him and let me know. I called the hospital, they were not very concerned, said he would come back. There followed several calls back and forth to the hospital nurse and social worker. Finally I found 'the doctor's' office number and called him. Again he said there was nothing more he could do, he would not authorize a form 1 to get him back to hospital and hung up on me. Jeff has been missing since 12 noon on Thursday. He has no medicine, no money, no identification. I have never been treated like this by a doctor before and I have 22 years experience with the mental health profession both in Alberta and Ontario. I am very worried about my son. He is out there alone, disoriented and sick. This doctor is imcompetent. I have already complained to the hospital. Rate MDs. He has poor rating. 4/6/13 Oh where to start... I was an inpatient at TEGH when I was given him as my Psychiatrist. He is an older polish doctor who could not have been any less interested. During our weekly meetings, he would literally just sit across from me with his eyes mostly closed, and slouched over in his seat. After about five or six minutes of waiting for him to say something, he would eventually blurt "Well, okay", and simply get up and leave the room. Even the nurse taking notes next to us seemed confused to as why he was involved. I am sure he is not a horrible or stupid person. He just seems lazy. Also, I am not sure if he really understands English very well. Perhaps he was older when he arrived from Poland. Anyways, he really should not be able to get away with pretending to treat patients like this. Hopefully Ontario will investigate him.
