This guy is a buffoon with a medical license. Any other gastroenterologist is worlds apart from him in proffesionalism care and knowledge. Choosing someone else might actually save your life.

My experience with Dr. Desai was very similair to the below rating. I found him to be unprofessional, insensitive and unhelpful. His withholding of pertinent information was odd to me too, not that he was doing this maliciously but he was not forthcoming with what you need to know. He was only useful to me for getting a diagnosis from the colonoscopy, and his prescription was wrong too. I guess you are left to do the research yourself of how to deal with your disease. As he said, any information beyond medicinal treatment is not covered by OHIP. I hope someone from the Ministry of Health reads this and takes his license away before someone else is referred to him.

I have never met a doctor who needed to have his license revoked as much as Dr. Desai. He is a Gastroenterologist, a specialist, which makes it even more appalling given the serious nature of his patient's afflictions. During the colonoscopy he performed, I woke up in the middle of it (I was supposed to be knocked out for the whole thing). After being diagnosed with ulcerative colitis, he would only provide me with information on medication. Ulcerative colitis requires a major dietary and lifestyle change, which he had no information or knowledge about. His response would always be, condescendingly, "There is no food that would make your condition any worse." This goes against everything we know about digestive disorders, something a Gastroenterologist should know. I know he couldn't be that oblivious, that maybe there was a language barrier so I rephrased my question in various ways, numerous times. He repeatedly answered that nothing I eat or drink will affect my condition. After repeated attempts at asking him about any dietary restrictions or lifestyle changes I should make, I had to resort to posing my questions as metaphors. "If I have a glass of V8 vegetable juice at night, then I have terrible stomach pains at night which causes me to lost sleep." Surprisingly he said, "Of course you did because it is full of fiber." So he actually does know more than just medication, but does not see why it would be relevant to someone with ulcerative colitis. I can only imagine how to treats patient's with Krohns or Colon cancer. It might actually save a life, no joke.

I am very upset about this person. He performed colonoscopy and an endoscopy for me in April/2016. He said he took little Biopsy. But he did not say anything about my diagnose. As a specialist dr Desai did not do anything helpful for me. I knew from my family doctor that I have Esophagitis. Before the endoscopy I never had this problem. After the Endoscopy I had terrible pain on my esophagus. Still I am on medicine prescribed by my family doctor for Esophagitis. But the pain does not go away. It is getting worse. Today is June 7/2016, but I still did not get my Biopsy result. I am still keep asking my family doctor if she got the result. I am tired.
