This psychiatrist was always running late to our appointments and had a very rigid bedside manner during psychiatric appointments. Racial comments about my parents were minimized to “let’s just regard their birthplace as a small village in China”. I asked if she could soften her approach because I felt uncomfortable when she made comments such as “I’m not surprised that would happen to someone like you” after disclosing a very vulnerable situation I was describing to her. She raised her voice on me when I confronted her on how negatively her communication style was affecting me, and I was singled out by this psychiatrist when she told me that I am the only patient who has a problem with her, and that no other client thinks or feels this way about her practice. Overall my experience being under her care was concerningly hostile and unprofessional. I would not recommend her to anyone who is seeking psychiatric care from a trusted provider.
