I went to see Dr. Johnson in Etobicoke General Hospital today actually. August 17, 2022. I have been waiting to speak to a psychiatrist for 8 months at this point. I was in the ER for self harm and threatening suicide to my loved ones in episodes of hysteria, twice before getting this appointment. While sitting down with him he asked me questions about my life, family, everything leading up to my visit. I was trying to explain why i was there and what was happening to me in the past few years that have led me here. Firstly. He asked where i worked, and i replied as a waitress and he said "waitresses have a higher chance of alcoholism" and i looked at him confused and said i don't drink, only occasionally if i go out to a restaurant to dinner. He then proceeded to ask me if i get drunk or do drugs, which i replied no. He then said that the medications that have been helping me not commit suicide these past few years are not good for me because they are highly addictive. So straight out of the bat, he assumed i had a problem with narcotics or alcohol. Which is the exact opposite of who i am. Further more he would interrupt me when i was trying to explain what i been going through and basically told me i have self esteem issues and i need to "validate" myself, all while he is invalidating me and my mental illnesses. I have depression, anxiety, and bpd and have seen other psychiatrists. Lately my mental health has been rapidly declining and i am literally on the verge of committing duicide. I left my appointment feeling very upset and like i will never truly receive the help i actually need. This Dr. should not be in psychiatry and having patients because he does not care about the people he speaks to. I wouldn't be surprised if people like me go on to actually end up committing after seeing him because he has done nothing. Take his medical license away.
