I am a 61 y.o. Woman with Multiple Sclerosis and Depression. I had middle insomnia and memory difficulties. Dr Ilcewicz-Kilmek has been my psychiatrist for one year. She was accurate in her assessment and treatment of longstanding anxiety. The anxiety was masked in a depression that was moderately controlled with a combination of medications. She provided a treatment plan that has been effective in improving my perception of life. I compare it to a switch from regular T.V. to High Definition. As a result I feel more confident. I've been able to accomplish realistic social and recreational goals. I've learned some new exciting skills. I'm grateful to have Dr Ilcewicz as my doctor.

Dr Ilcewicz-Kilmek has been my psychiatrist for a year. She's an understanding, compassionate physician. As a result of treatment I'm feeling more relaxed and confident. I'm more outgoing, my sleep has improved and I feel positive about my future. Prior to retirement I worked as a Psychiatric Nurse for 30 yrs. Dr Ilcewicz-Kilmek is one of the best doctors I've met. If you're not feeling well, I recommend that you see her for an assessment and treatment plan consultation.

I have been diagnosed with PTSD from my experience on 1 West Neuropsychiatry. I have since learned that other patients of Dr Howard have also been diagnosed with PTSD after leaving UBC. I saw Dr Howard with Dr Ilcewicz at UBC Detwiller. I had told Dr Howard that the numbness and paresthesia stopped after changing my blood thinner, but he replied saying, we’ll just say this was somatoform. I found out after my discharge months later that blood thinners cause numbness and paresthesia. This was never explained to me while at UBC by either Dr Howard or Dr Ilcewicz-Klimek. After receiving potassium, I developed esophagitis dissecans superficialis which led to nausea and made it harder to eat. Even though I had the endoscopy at UBC, I was never told about the results of my biopsy and had to request them from records after I was discharged. I also had an anterior displacement of my xiphoid process, which caused the xiphoidalgia, not discovered until after my discharge months later. Each new symptom that arose was labelled somatoform. Even neck pain several months prior to my admission from moving a heavy exam table at work, that had resolved prior to admission, was labelled Somatoform by Dr Howard. Dr Howard, who works with Dr Ilcewicz-Kilmek, told me that I caused my Somatoform because I was not in a long term relationship. The early diagnosis of Somatoform made it incredibly hard to be assessed by a physician as nurses charted the doctors were aware of who I was and would decline to come do an assessment. If I had trouble going to sleep, I was offered heavy psych meds like loxapine, even though I had no previous psych history. I was put on Nortriptyline for pain by Dr Ilcewicz-Kilmek, and subsequently went into psychosis. I was never taken off of the Nortriptyline which was the cause of the psychosis by Dr Ilcewicz-Klimek and Dr Howard discharged me in psychosis. Thankfully I was able to reach out to a friend immediately to help me to the ER, and when a friend phoned Dr Howard to inquire why I was discharged in psychosis he said lots of people are walking around in psychosis, what do you want me to do about it. I was left alone in my room, crying in pain for many hours at a time, and eventually the call bell string was yanked off by one of the nurses and I was told I was misbehaving for asking for help. On one occasion I was OD’d on hydromorphone. I was high and spat some of the meds out and was forced to take more meds. I woke up choking on my tongue and being shaken by one of the other nurses. This OD was not documented other than my dose of hydromorphone being decreased afterwards. This was instead charted as a behavioural issue. Dr Ilcewicz initially charted she thought I had real pain, but later charted a query of Major Depressive Disorder. I have never been depressed, and only ever reported and showed that I was experiencing pain. Dr Howard was abusive and negligent, but unfortunately Dr Ilcewicz was incredibly negligent in her care, not questioning his diagnosis of Somatoform, not thinking to trial me off of Nortriptyline which had been started just prior to going into psychosis, or listening to me when I asked not to be transferred back to UBC under Dr Howard due to abuse.
