Dr. Juma saw my mom for an appointment 5 months ago, after a referral from our family doctor for a competency report and for medications to help my mom. We needed the report for the Notary for power of attorney as my mom was no longer able to function well enough to live on her own, or look after her finances. She also needed medication to help with her mood swings from the dementia as she was often and still is severely depressed at times. Mom went for her appointment on April 6 with my fiancé as I could not get out of a work commitment. My fiancé was allowed to attend the appointment with my mother. After some questions and testing, he diagnosed my mom with Alzheimer's and told my fiancé he will be writing us a report shortly and would send the prescription to our family doctor. That was 5 months ago. I have made numerous requests since then for both the medication and the report. My mom has suffered needlessly for the last 5 months !!!! My family is slowly going broke trying to provide adequate care and supervision for the last 3 months because we are unable to request for power of attorney without Dr. Juma's report. My mom has funding to be able to pay for her own care, but I'm not comfortable nor is it ethical for me to access her accounts without power of attorney. She can no longer be left alone at all for safety reasons. We have moved her in with us and have done the best we can to provide 24 hour supervision. Doctor Jumas heel dragging had caused nothing but sadness and anxiety for my mom and has put and incredible amount of emotional and financial stress on my entire family !
