I was taken to Southlake Hospital by ambulance on Nov. 14, 2016. I was in intense pain, was vomitting, and hemoglobin and blood pressure was dropping. I had passed out 3 times before calling for the ambulance, passed out 2 times during the drive, and upon arrival at the hospital I was in and out of consciousness. When transferred to the intensive care ward, I was so very blessed to be under the care of Dr. Hutchinson. A week prior I had undergone uterine cancer surgery at the Barrie hospital and now (6 days later), something was wrong. Dr Hutchinson was the one who oversaw my case. She was the one who constantly was there, watched me closely. Dr. Hutchinson was the bright light in the middle of my storm. I totally trusted her because I knew that she was doing everything that was going to help me. She was concerned but hopeful. I had 4 blood transfusions and still was losing blood. Dr. Hutchinson was the one who told me that I had to have another operation to find out what the cause was -- somewhere blood was leaking. On Nov. 15th, I was operated on again. Dr. Rouselle was the surgeon, along with Dr. Hutchinson, Dr. Joutsi and another anesthesiologist. After the operation, every time I saw Dr. Hutchinson, I just had to smile. Without her knowledge and expertise, I would never be here! I had been bleeding internally and losing blood. Dr. Hutchinson organized everything in such a short span of time. I was not an easy case-- on blood thinners, mechanical heart valve, atrial fibrillation, and diabetes complicated things. I am so grateful to Dr. Hutchinson! I owe her my life!
