Dr Linda Wong has been my doctor for more than 20 years now and I consider myself fortunate to have her as my GP. She is there to help me in any way she can: answering my questions competently; directing me to reliable literature for more information; knowledgeably suggesting lifestyles changes, modalities, and alternative medicine when appropriate; referring me to specialists (she cares enough to keep track of who are the best in their field and she will suggest those that are the best match for me); recomending further testing to diagnose or rule out potential problems; prescribing medications, of course; and all while demonstrating that she cares as much about my mental well being as my physical health. I know I can count on her to listen carefully to me and thoroughly examine my issues as she has helped me deal with some serious and complex health problems over the years. I will always be grateful that she took on my sister and her family years ago as she has taken such great care of them, especially since their son has special needs. She is the also only GP my sons have ever seen, even though my eldest has moved away he arranges to see her when he comes home to visit, because there is no doctor we trust more. Finally, I wish to explain that I gave her 5 stars for punctuality even though she is not always precisely on time because I know it is impossible for her to plan for emergencies and all contingencies: I’ve raced in with an infant spiking a fever, been squeezed in with a sick child, and have been brought in without an appointment to be given the bad news after standard tests revealed an unforeseen problem. These things happen, doctors know that, but they can’t predict when. The next time you’re kept waiting, please remember that it is only because someone else needed her - maybe a helpless child got the treatment he or she needed, or perhaps someone else is having a worse day than you after receiving life changing news.
