Dr Takats did not write down my history and did not remember the details of my condition accurately on subsequent visits. He was very dismissive and his recommendation to deal with chronic dihorrea was for me to 'eat more bread'. Basically, he indicated that the problem was in my head. As a result of this visit, since he was supposedly the expert, I was sent to see a psychiatrist who put me on large doses of Valium. Thankfully, we had a friend who was training to be a doctor at the time who recommended that I ask for a referral to a gastroenterologist that he had been working with. This doctor did a thorough investigation and the proper tests and it was determined that I had Crohn's disease. "Dr" Takats delayed my diagnosis by over a year and caused me to be subjected to harmful sedative drugs. By the time I was diagnosed, I was also experiencing abcessing of the bowel, which was life threatening and could have been avoided with an earlier diagnosis. I wouldn't recommend this doctor if he was the last doctor on.the face of the earth. I feel that my legitimate concerns were dismissed because I was young and female.
