Icey

I went to the emergency with severe abdomen pain and inflammation. This doctor spent a couple of hours with a patient who came in several hours after me and then he came to me and said the tests are all negative and there is nothing we can do, just get used to the pain. I was so taken aback that I did not even know how to respond. I said I am in pain, he said, just tolerate the pain. I asked if I was going to see a general surgeon and he laughed saying, why to waste their time, it’s nothing that can be done. It wasn’t until I lost it on him that he was willing to call the general surgeon. After being discharged, I found out from my family doctor that the blood work taken during that emergency visit did show high inflammation in my body and that I should have been given this information during my stay. After this doctor left my area, I heard him telling an elderly lady that all she can do for her abdomen pain is take fiber, the poor lady started crying saying I have been here all day and without running any test you are just sending me home? The doctor then yelled over to the nurse saying, “oh you didn’t run tests on her?” This is the first time I have come across an unprofessional and uneducated doctor at the emergency of the University of Alberta Hospital. This doctor should not be allowed to practice medicine and be in charge of people’s lives. He could be heard flirting with the nurses and I could hear other patients getting upset with him as well.
