My son is currently in the NICU at the Royal Alex. When he was born he had a bleed on his brain. Dr. Stevens is not my sons primary doctor but he took the time to come to his bedside and explain in detail some complications that could come from the bleed. He gave us hope that it wouldn't be too serious and that we should be able to help him through it so he could be like all the other kids. I have never seen a doctor who would show so much concern to a family to actually come and sit for a long period of time and explain a complication. It blew me away!

Dr. Stevens was responsible for the care of our newborn son for the 2 days he spent in NICU in November 2011. He was absolutely wonderful! He was patient, took time explaining things and ensuring I understood. Gave me credit for the previous experience I had with my previous 2 children which resulted in our baby being discharged as soon as possible. (He said that since I had breastfed 2 babies already, he trusted me to recognize if our new baby was not nursing properly at home, or if there were any reason to be concerned - rather than keep him in NICU for another day just so they could observe his nursing and see for themselves). He was just so encouraging and optimistic and helped us feel so comfortable about our time there, our baby's treatment and experience, and what to do once we got home. Sincerest thanks to you Dr. Stevens. :)

I very much appreciated that he treated my son like a person, not just a chart!! He was friendly, personable, and always made me feel like my son was his top priority...even though I know he had many other little patients to care for.
