Dr. Beattie was our family doctor in Haliburton. He is an exceptional Doctor. He would call us in the evening just to check on my husband to see how he was doing when not well. In Haliburton they only allowed 15 minutes per visit and if Doctor Beattie was not finished he would ask you to wait while he went and saw the other patient then come right back to you. He left no stone unturned. We were just sick when we heard he took over a practise in Toronto. We would love nothing more than to travel to see him. Something we may just end up doing. If you have him as your family doctor, then you have a doctor that cares about you and will give you the time and attention you need. As much as we are happy for him, we only wish he would return to the Haliburton area. (sooner than later).

I have only met once with Dr. John Douglas Beattie but I found him respectful of me, On time, accepting, even with only this intial encounter he attempted to consider my whole being. I.E , he attempted to be considerate of my fixed income circumstances. We was gentle, listened, corrective when necessary. I believe I will be happy to have him as a family doctor.

I have had issues with the process in the way the doctor would address and treat me. I made an appointment and then I mentioned more than one heath concerns, he dismissed me by stating that he will deal with one health issues at a time as to not to create confusion. Why would I have to wait to have my stomach examined and then check the small lump the left side of my left breast and pain on my right breast? and Why should I wait if I have bleeding haemorrhoids. why not treat all of my complaints at the same time?????? I am 66 years old and want these issues treated immediately. I do not care how much, he gets paid by OHIP. Would he treat his wife or mother like he treats me?????? Why would I have to suffer and be anxious? by doing one treatment at a time, I am costing OHIP much more and the good doctor is making more money at my expense, by jeopardizing my wellbeing. I deserve better and I deserve the best care like all other law abiding citizens. we the aging population paid our taxes, worked fro the benefit of all...we deserve better. As a result of my doctor's refusal to treat all of my concerns, I have to go trough some tests tomorrow. Then go back to see him next Thursday to address, the small lump next to my left breast and pain to the right breast and my bleeding haemorrhoids
