I'd like to pass along my thanks to the Urgent Care team at Mount St. Joseph's Hospital in Vancouver. When I needed an exam and prescription for a strep throat infection on a Friday evening, and my doctor and all the local clinics were either closed or severely backlogged, Mount Saint Joseph's had me checked out and on my way within an hour. They were competent and friendly, and assured me that I'd done the right thing in not waiting until after the weekend to see my GP. In particular, Dr. Jeanne McLeod was both sympathetic and efficient. I later watched her take a little extra time with a patient with limited English, making sure that they understood one another clearly, and then "gentle" a tougher client with a self-professed dislike of doctors, getting him to talk about the pain he was experiencing. She could teach a great many ER doctors a thing or two!
