RHONDA MELNICK

The First thing I would like to say is that Dr. George Alvarez Saved My Life! My family and I can't even begin to Thank him. I'm a 38yr old female who went into multiple system failure in Sept. 2013. I was in a coma in for a week & my family was told I may not survive. Dr. Alvarez worked tirelessly to find out what was happening to me. My kidneys failed along with my lungs, heart & liver. Dr. Alvarez continued to search for the cause of my issues, while keeping my family extremely informed, Calm & Comforted. He invited my husband and mom to rounds every day. Answering any question they had, no matter how small. Dr. Alvarez expertly treated my heart, lungs & liver, my kidneys were not responding. That's when he decided to try a treatment that he & a "group of fantastic nurses"(Direct quote) had created & perfected, for the very first time. It was a special type of Dialysis done over only 24hrs. I was going to be the first patient ever to have this done. To say my family was scared, is an understatement. Dr. Alvarez & his Amazing staff hooked me up to this new dialysis treatment & the next thing we knew, I was getting better. The breathing tube was removed & I started my road to recovery the very next day. When I was able to talk with Dr. Alvarez he explained to me, in great detail. Everything that had happened to me & everything I needed to do to continue my recovery. He was a little harsh about me being a smoker & the fact that I better quit or else as well as my needing to definitely lose some weight. But that's the way things should be done. Straight & to the point. Dr. Alvarez didn't just leave it at suggestions though. With his wonderful nurse practioner Ashley, & nutritionist Chelsea, Dr. Alvarez not only got me into the weight loss management program but they also got my husband in too. I have also quit smoking. It will be 1yr on September 23, 2014. Dr. Alvarez not only saved me, he saved my family. Thank you so very much Dr. Alvarez for giving me my life back. Rhonda Melnick
