I was referred to Dr Greenwald by my family Dr after seeing another GI specialist that keep me waiting in the waiting room for 3 hours! When I arrived at Dr Greenwalds clinic at McMaster for my first appointment I was a little worried I would be waiting forever again but to my surprise I was only in the waiting area for 10 mins before being called in . I then seen a med student who took all of my GI history and went and to talk to Dr Greenwald . He then came in to speak me and listened to all of my concerns he gave me a prescription to start right away to help with my symptoms he booked me right away for an endoscopy . I was very nervous about this procedure he reassured me I would be sedated and be comfortable during the whole procedure which i was they explained everything that would happen before during and after . I have to say all of the staff that work for him are amazing they are friendly and caring from the time you walk in to the time you leave . I would definitely recommend Dr Greenwald and his team !!!

April 14th 2011, Dr Greenwald and his assistant preformed an Endoscopy and a Colonoscopy on me. I had been told that I would be sedated and I would not feel a thing. I am here to tell you that I asked many times for the sedation. I had the interveiness needle inserted on my right hand and I was waiting for the IV bag to be connected. Dr Greenwald proceeded with the Endoscopy anyway. I kept telling him "I'm awake" He did not pay any attention to me and when he finished with the Endoscopy he then proceeded to do the Colonoscopy. I was really scared and very agitated. I kept telling him that I was still awake. I was crying and crying because it hurt. They put oxygen on my nose and told me to breathe deep, which you can't when you are crying. I heard him say that I was really twisted. I saw the procedure on the TV and I was still telling him that I was awake. His nurse Selena as holding my hand, but I think I was hurting her because she moved away. I held the railings of the bed. I was still crying and I was crying in recovery and I cryed all the way home. I called my family doctor when I got home and told his secretary to tell my doctor what had happened. I want it on record that I was not pleased with his referral to a doctor that was so inconsiderate to his patient. My rating of this doctor is only 1 star and that is for showing up. He must have nerves of steel to be probing a wide awake, crying person and not react. If he is about to perform this procedure on anyone, please trust me whe I say to get it in writing that you will be sedated or you will face the same trauma that I did.

I am a patient under the care of Dr Greenwald for over 13 years . I was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease back in 2008. I initially had a difficult time as most IBD patients do getting the illness under control. After about a year of trying different medications, I finally had success with Imuran and now in combination with Humira. I have had numerous colonoscopy treatments performed by Dr Greenwald. From regular office appointments to colonoscopies Dr Greenwald would get my recommendation to anyone needing IBD treatment. He is very professional while maintaining a friendly disposition. Inflammatory bowel disease is difficult to get under control upon initial diagnoses as the patient has often suffered from prolonged bouts of flare-ups before being diagnosed and the road to stability is long and frustrating. It is incurable and the patient needs to look into the problems encountered with the disease and how to best deal with the complications over time. Then during doctor appointments, the patient and doctor can be in the same playing field when discussing the present state of patient.
