I attempted suicide three days after seeing this extremely highly rated doctor in 2014. I'm obviously not saying it was her fault, but it was indicative of how distinctly UNhelpful my consultation with her was. She took my money, saw me in her living room for about 30 minutes, asked me a series of painful questions and took notes in a bored manner (I later learned that any therapist worth their salt knows there is ZERO POINT dragging up painful topics until the person has the basic emotional tools to handle the feelings that arise) and then flat out said to my face, with no trace of sympathy or compassion: "Well I can't help you." She explained that I was a more complicated and difficult case than she knows how to treat. I sat in my car afterwards in tears, my worst fears confirmed. I was beyond help and things were never going to get better—an expert had just told me so. 10 years on, I thank God that my attempted suicide didn't work. I thank God that I am happy and healthy because I saw the right medical professionals and finally got the help I needed. Mental health care is in such a crisis in this country, and I think people should be warned about people like Dr. Noce, which is why I felt compelled to post this after all these years. Like many in the field, she was probably just so hardened to the realities of mental health care that I just don't think it was possible for her to understand how vulnerable people can be when they are finally taking that terrifying step of asking for help (surely a sign that it's time to retire?). I wanted to say to anyone looking for help that it can get better so please hang in there, but if you're researching this doctor... keep looking. You are worth it. And by the way, get recommendations for therapists from your family doctor if at all possible; do NOT see private individuals in their homes. I went on to see a few more before I finally got proper care via my GP/the hospital, and none were remotely helpful. Most were clearly looking to earn a tidy income from their own living room chair with as little real effort as possible.
