Dr. Werry is consistently 20-40 minutes late, but she always gives patients the allotted amount of time. She is very "in your face" and she "tells it like it is" which is helpful for some and offensive to others. She is very knowledgeable about mental illness but, at times, seems to lack empathy/warmth. She tells stories about her past patients but never reveals identifying details about them.

I went to the emergency room because I was suffering from anxiety due to the passing of my Father from Pancreatic Cancer as well as I was suffering from depression caused from my long battle of chronic back pain due to Degenitive disc disease. I gave a history of my back issues as well as the pain medication I am on, I did not go there seeking any meds or help with the pain, I went there because I felt like I was going to have a nervous break down, I was not threatening suicide or threatening to harm anyone, after speaking with Dr.Werry for 10 minutes she told me my problems were not mental health issues, but that I was a drug addict addicted to pain meds and that she was going to call Childrens Aid Society because I was threatening to commit suicide in front of my children ( very untrue) she then spoke with my Husband who told her I never threatend to commit suicide and especially did not do so in front of my children. She then sent me home with no help and told me to follow-up with my Family Doctor. One week later Childrens Aid Society shows up at my door claiming they recieved a call from Dr.Werry stating that I was a suicidal drug addict with a multiple personality disorder and was a threat to my children, the childrens aid worker who I met with sees no danger for my children and is very disturbed at how Dr.Werry could come up with such a diagnosis after 10 minutes and is investigating her credentials as well as putting in a formal complaint against her with the College of Physicians and surgeons Canada. This doctor caused more harm then good and how many other people did she mis-diagnose? She made me feel like horrible, she took an oath and she is not abiding by it, she should be ashamed of herself.

Dr. Werry treated my depression as a joke. She told me I was playing a victim and that there is no treatment for me. She also said if anyone had admitted having any suicidal thoughts they call childrens aid so how could I truly tell her how I was feeling? She then said that she doesn't know and asked me to diagnose myself by reading through the description of another illness in her medical book!!! I put through a complaint with the college of physicians and surgeons back when this happened in 2012

Dr. Werry is quick to give advice, but if all I wanted was advice I would ask for it from my friends (and not pay $200 and have to wait for 1 hour in the waiting room each week, as she is consistently at least 40 minutes late). If you're in a good mood, she'll be in a good mood. You have to have a back bone to work with this doctor. I find myself caring for her more than she cares for me during our sessions, as she is extremely sensitive and easily wounded. She unintentionally blurts out the names of her children when telling stories about them. She has told stories about patients without ever accidentally stating their names, but I am expecting the day to come soon where she unintentionally breaks a patient's confidentiality. At this point, I think that the reason I am staying with her is because my attachment issues won't allow me to rupture this therapeutic relationship. Attachment is not something that she seems willing to work on. She does not react well to transference.
