Tracy Emoff
Hello, my name is Tracy. Here's my story. I am 44 years old with Bipolar disorder, anxiety disorder and Personality disorder. I have had the same psychiatrist for 10-11 years. During this time he would book me an appointment for say 12pm, I'd be lucky to get in to my appointment by 2pm. This happened at every appointment. I expressed my frustration on various occasions and would get the same lame, "I'm so sorry" every time. This in turn made stop going to most of my appointments. Only going when absolutely necessary to get my medication. I absolutely should have gone more often but with my anxiety it was quite difficult getting to my appointments and even more difficult sitting there for 2 hours waiting. On February 4 2021 at approximately 12:30 am my partner of 3.5 years passed away suddenly. I've been a mess since. I started calling my psychiatrist on February 4th in the afternoon as I was in crisis and desperately needed to talk to him. I called every day except on weekends. He didn't call me until February 23rd, again with a lame, " I'm sorry, I've been busy"!! Finally I got really upset and contacted the hospital manager about my issues. She returned my email apologizing and said she would speak to outpatient mental health manager and my psychiatrist. My psychiatrist called me yesterday saying that because of my complaint he will no longer be my psychiatrist and he will be referring me to someone else!!!!! I'm quite upset and my anxiety is through the roof. The only person I feel comfortable talking to is dropping me for raising my concerns after being my psychiatrist for 10+ years!!!! I don't know if there is anything I can do about this. If there is please let me know. Keep in mind that on the outgoing message of outpatient psychiatry clearly states that a doctor will return your call within 24 hours. I was in crisis and waited 3 weeks!!! During the call I expressed the need to talk to him every 2 weeks for now. He booked my next appointment in a month!!!!!! He also rushes through your appointment. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
