I am really curious about the reasons the other raters and commenters had for giving Dr. Potiuk the bad ratings. Did he refuse to prescribe them drugs to support their habits or something? He is a friendly, efficient and good doctor. There are many reasons to be dissatisfied with a doctor. Some are fair and some not.

Jane E.

I have never been so poorly treated by a member of the medical establishment in my life. I was seen by "Doctor" Dustin Potiuk at Oak Bay Medical Clinic today, because I need a short-term medical leave from my employer of ten years in order to get into the E.I. system, in order to force my employer to take my need for ergonomic adjustment seriously. (I am a clerical worker who is a member of a large union whose H.R. department operates in the stone age.) He would NOT listen to my concerns, kept insisting that because I'd been to this clinic two years ago for a related issue, that it had to have been resolved (inferring that I am just a whiner). When I tried to explain to him that even though I had returned to work on that occasion, that didn't mean that my employer had listened to me, which had created additional, unnecessary pain, he kind of smirked at me and said, "Well, why don't you just work part-time, then?" I was INFURIATED by this individual's attitude. I asked the front receptionist if I could be seen by another doctor at this clinic who would actually listen to me, but I was told, flat out, "no". Then when I reported Dr. Potiuk to the office manager at Oak Bay Medical Clinic, all she would say was, "He is a very good doctor," inferring that because I don't agree with her assessment of him, that I'm wrong about my own chronic pain condition, and that it was somehow my fault that I don't have a permanent doctor. (How many Canadians are in THAT category, these days?) Word to the wise, avoid this individual, and avoid O.B. Medical Clinic while you are at it. They are lacking in service and compassion.
