DR. CLELAND HAS AN ODD WAY OF DEALING WITH PATIENTS, OR PERHAPS WITH ME SPECIFICLY. HE SEEMS TO BE RUSHING AND WHEN I SPEAK, HE WOULD OFTEN CUT ME OFF, EVEN IF I WENT IN THERE WITH 4 SHORT QUESTIONS. NOT HAPPY WITH HIM.

1992 I was suffering from ulcerative colites..met Dr Cleland at the Montreal Gen hospital ..he was a straight shooter about my condition and was up front about the possibilities of surgery BUT want to rest my bowel ..I stayed for approx 2 months with no food and with tubes hooked up to me so I'd get the proper nutrition to keep me alive...the Doctor always thoughtfully answered my questions through out my stay ..finally the day came for my release!! Spent the first night home with my family only to have a relapse that same night tired hungry and the thought of surgery scared me ...next day I went to see the doctor and and ill never forget hearing saying Darrin youved suffered enough time to really think about surgery..being a young man and 2 small children I pleaded with him there must be something else we could do..Doctor Cleland looked at me very hard ..then proceeded to tell me that if I wanted to be a test subject for a experimental drug to be used on me 'anti-rejection drug used for people having major organ transplant surgery!! I agreed and there was no cost to me ..ill fast forward and say after 20 years afew hiccups but still in remission and My children are grown up I still am grateful for Dr Paul Cleland his decision that fateful day to think outside the box saved my quality of life and now a middle age man and content with the future living in Vancouver BC still being checked out by a GI out west BUT if your reading this Doctor Cleland just wanted to thank you and say your my hero :)

He is an excellent doctor who was able to find and treat what was ailing me in a very short period of time.

Dr Cleland goes the extra miles to help his patients. He is very committed to patient care & is a good listener. He would deliver patient blood samples in order to get faster results. We are very fortunate to have him.
