I went to visit this doctor who is my family doctor, I began to explain how my groin is in pain and when I left he proscribed anti-inflammatory which reduces inflammation or swelling so i took the pills and i did not work, I went back to him and explained how it did not work, so he sent me for an x-ray of my hips. The day the x-rays came in he stated that nothing was wrong so he decided to send me to physio therapy. So that is what i did, and in the beginning I did feel a slight difference until that one painful day after i went for a job. My pain went from a 3 to 9 very fast as i had no idea what was going on. I decided to take it into my own hands and my friend sent me to a specialist named Dr. Daniel Whelan. So now the big day comes I take my x-rays to st-mikes hospital and within the first 30 seconds Dr. Daniel Whelan tells me very bad news and was shocked that my doctor or the person in the x-ray room did not notice it. He tells me I am going to need surgery and the reason is because-- cam type femoroacetabular impingement--so now the grey hairs came through and now all of a sudden its surgery time. I do blame this doctor Van Der Hout due to not paying more attention to the x-rays in his face and without going to Dr.Whelan I would most likely be in a wheelchair. The surgery went well but am bitter that I was not able to do it early in my life.

Dr. Van Der Hout is a professional and thorough doctor while also being a friendly and compassionate person. I went to his office with internal bleeding. He diagnosed me quickly, took care of me while an ambulance was called and his staff took care of my 11-month old baby while my family was contacted. His quick thinking saved my life. While waiting for help, he was supportive but honest with me, which I appreciated. He kept me calm, but he did not lie to me. He is a great doctor and one I would highly recommend to anyone.
