I wish I could give this "doctor" zero stars. I had already seen my family doctor a few days beforehand and done some blood work but was told to go in to emerge if symptoms persisted or worsened. It was 3 a.m and I could not handle the horrible pain I was in. I had terrible jolt like zaps in my head almost every minute that lasted about 5-10 seconds. I went to the Mis because it was the shortest wait time. I got into a room very quick, the lady at triage was super unfriendly, looked at me as though I was garbage, but I had high hopes for a doctor. I waited about 35 minutes in the room, which actually is not bad at all. But Dr.Neilson walks in and just immediately says "so you have a headache?" And I said no, this is definitely not a headache. I tried to explain to him the 2 weeks worth of crazy symptoms I had, including multiple swollen lymph nodes and a rash like feeling on my scalp where I had been getting zaps of pain. He barely talked to me for 5 minutes, he was extremely rude and condescending and just kept telling me I had a tension headache. I told him my doctor tested for shingles and he crossed his arms and rolled his eyes and with a sarcastic, snarky voice said "You can't test for shingles." I began to cry as I was so frustrated with the pain I was in and and embarrassed by how this "doctor" treated me and would not even give me the time of day. As I sat on the bed crying he said " You can change and go home" and he walked out of the room. Not that I was expecting a hug or crazy sympathy or anything, but I was in genuine pain and wanted some answers. I KNEW this was not just a headache because of the all the other symptoms I had. So I left, got home at 5 a.m. and did not sleep. A day later I went back to emerge, in a different hospital, because the zaps were so bad my entire body was seizing up. Turns out I had bacterial lymphadenitis and a lump so large it was pressing against the nerves that were causing the jolts of pain to the side of my head. I was almost too embarrassed to go back into the hospital, I did not want to get scoffed at for going in with "just a headache" but it turns out this could have been pretty detrimental to my health if I left it any longer. I now have to go see a neurologist in a few days. Dr.Darren Nielson at the Misericordia is the by far the WORST physician I have ever seen. I have never been treated so poorly by a so called doctor. I understand he probably works long hours and is tired, but seriously, have some respect for your patients.
